MONSTER REWARDS SL IN LIQUIDATION, FACT OR FAKE?

We have recently been made aware of several of our clients, who were members of Monster Rewards, having received a rather concerning letter.

The letter is purporting to be from an designated liquidator by the name J Flynn.  The letter is printed on blank paper. It bears no details of J Flynn’s company or indeed his professional body.

It has come to our attention that several of our clients are being contacted by cold callers claiming to be from reputable companies. This can be distressing, as these calls are unwanted and the caller may be making statements that simply are untrue and unfounded.

Maui County in Hawaii is waiting for a second court to rule after appealing a decision made by a Judge in march, who agreed the timeshare property tax classification established more than 10 years ago is illegal. If the county loses the suit, they could be faced with a bill for $34 million in property tax refunds.

Mary Isherwood died during a stay at her family owned timeshare, at the Las Talgarth Holiday complex in Wales.

An inquest heard how Mary Isherwood dies from hypothermia after getting lost while going to the toilet in the middle of the night and getting trapped in the airing cupboard when the door-handle came off.

Are Diamond Resorts about to go public?

Diamond Resorts owns a network of 379 vacation destinations in 35 countries around the world and sells vacation ownership points. In June 2016, Apollo Global Management made a successful offer to purchase Diamond Resorts International. On January 18th 2018, the company underwent a brand refresh, updating its logo and officially dropped the “International” from its name, and became known as Diamond Resorts. The following news has broken, Diamond Resorts Europe will be closing select sales offices within Malaga and Tenerife.

Sales teams in both Malaga and Tenerife have been advised to seek advice from solicitors as there will be redundancies across the teams.

Wyndham Worldwide are said to be splitting their Hotel business from the Timeshare and Vacation Rental side of the business.

According to reports online, timeshare contracts sold by Anfi have been under some scrutiny over the past months. It is reported that this has caused losses for the company.

In June 2017, a General Meeting was said to have been held for timeshare owners based in sunny Gran Canaria with Anfi. The main focus of this meeting being the 50 year maximum contract length.
